Got Leaking Faucets? Why you need them fixed!

Faucets Leaking?

Water Leaks What a Waste!

Water leaks can lead to bigger problems.

Did you know that a small leak can be wasting between three(3) and fifteen (15) gallons of water on a daily basis; that is approximately 90 gallons a month or more! What you don’t see is that pipe leaking behind the wall providing a breeding ground for dangerous mold build up.

Wall and toilet leaks are difficult to detect. Keeping close tabs on your water bill can be a hint that issues are happening. Spiked bills usually tell you about leaks. You should fix leaky faucets as soon as possible; it does not matter if it is just a sink, shower, tub or even outside hose connections. Leaking pipes are serious and need immediate repair. Here are some temporary measures you should take until we arrive.

1) Shut off the main water supply to the home.

2) Find the lowest faucet in the house and drain out the piping.

3) Give us a call at 830-223-7144 to schedule a permanent repair.

Identifying Leaky Faucets

The most common leak for faucets are on the handles, faucet body, escutcheon plate, and pop up drain. Taking a picture of the problem can help your professional quickly diagnosis the problem. We recommend taking several photos from different angels of the faucet and or problem area. If you have replaced your faucets, keeping the model information is a good idea and can help in the future if replacement parts are available. Knowing the approximate age of the house and the faucet can also be helpful. Many times the homeowner that has changed out faucets will have sent in their warranty card. Here are some of the most common brands to call for often free parts in that case.

Warranty Information Available at:

Moen 1-800-289-6636

Delta 1-800-345-3358

Kohler 1-800-456-4537

Prise Pfister 1-800-732-8238

In the regular course of business we find that these manufacturers are very helpful in both identifying products and ordering parts. We hope you have the same outcome. We also recommend asking for a parts list and instruction sheet when ordering parts and typically they are happy to send them.

If you need more help than they can give don’t hesitate to call us, Dixon Plumbing 830-223-7144!
